THE 17TH BATCH OF SHANGHAI KEY TRADEMARK PROTECTION LIST WAS RELEASED

In order to further strengthen the protection of the exclusive right to use registered trademarks, the Shanghai Municipal Intellectual Property Office recently formulated and released the "17th Batch of Shanghai Key Trademark Protection List". A total of 86 key trademarks have been included in this list, involving 62 enterprises and institutions, mainly showing three characteristics:

First, the list highlights the protection of foreign-related high-profile trademarks. A total of 27 registered trademarks of 17 foreign-funded enterprises have been included in this list.

Second, trademark protection covers a wider range of industries. For example, the "labubu" trademark of Beijing Pop Mart Cultural and Creative Co., Ltd. is related to the trendy culture and entertainment industry, the "Legoland" trademark of Lego Holdings Co., Ltd. is related to theme parks, the "Shanghai Airlines" trademark of Shanghai Airlines Co., Ltd. is involved in the air transport industry, and the trademarks of "Alipay", "Ant Fortune" and "Huifu World and Graphics" are related to financial and electronic payment.

Third, the list highlights and supports the development of regional key industries. For example, it supports the construction of a beauty industry agglomeration area in Fengxian District, and the construction of the G60 science and technology innovation corridor in Songjiang District.

Since the establishment and implementation of the key trademark protection system, it has provided accurate, fast and effective guarantees for the relevant intellectual property departments of the Municipality to better carry out special law enforcement actions, crack down on malicious trademark squatting, strengthen regional collaborative protection, strengthen overseas trademark rights protection, and conduct online monitoring of infringements.

In the next step, the Shanghai Municipal Intellectual Property Office will guide the intellectual property departments of all districts to actively respond to and solve the concerns and demands of domestic and foreign market players in terms of trademarks around the key trademarks in the list, increase trademark protection, and help create a market-oriented, law-based and international first-class business environment.
