On 20 May 2026, Ferrante Intellectual Property was pleased to participate in a panel discussion on Vietnam’s digital transformation organised by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam. Stephanie Tran, our Vietnam Office Director, represented the firm alongside distinguished speakers specialising in digital assets, cybersecurity and data privacy to discuss Vietnam’s newly enacted AI Law and the evolving intellectual property landscape.

Our discussion focused on Vietnam’s AI Law and the evolving intellectual property framework in the digital era. One key message from the session was that digital transformation is no longer simply about adopting new technologies. It is increasingly about establishing the legal foundations for ownership, accountability and commercialisation in the digital economy.

As Vietnam continues to refine its AI and IP frameworks, several trends are becoming clear:

  • Data is the raw material of the AI economy.

  • AI governance is becoming an important component of economic policy.

  • The digital economy is increasingly driven by intangible assets such as algorithms, software, brands and proprietary data.

  • Intellectual property is evolving from a legal protection tool into a strategic business asset capable of generating commercial value.

These developments present both opportunities and challenges for businesses operating in Vietnam and highlight the growing importance of proactive IP and technology strategies.

We look forward to continuing the conversation and supporting businesses as they navigate this rapidly evolving landscape.
