2025 LEGISLATIVE PLAN: DRAFT AMENDMENTS TO (A) TRADEMARK LAW AND (B) PROVISIONS ON FOREIGN-RELATED IP DISPUTES



On May 14th, 2025, China's State Council released its 2025 Legislative Plan (国务院2025年度立法工作计划), which outlines plans to revise important laws and regulations related to intellectual property, including, inter alia:

Draft amendments to the Trademark Law (商标法修订草案), which will be submitted by the National Intellectual Property Administration to the NPC Standing Committee for deliberation;

Provisions of the State Council on the Settlement of Foreign-Related Intellectual Property Disputes (国务院关于涉外知识产权纠纷处理的规定), which will be submitted by the Ministry of Justice, the National Intellectual Property Administration, and the Ministry of Commerce to the State Council deliberation.
