CNIPA ISSUED "2024 SURVEY REPORT ON PUBLIC SATISFACTION WITH INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PROTECTION



The China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) has released the 2024 Survey Report on Public Satisfaction with Intellectual Property Protection. The evaluation framework comprises five primary indicators: legal policies, enforcement protection, institutional development, awareness cultivation, and protection effectiveness; along with 11 secondary indicators and 31 tertiary indicators. The survey encompasses intellectual property rights holders, professionals, and the general public across all sectors of society, covering all 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government, excluding Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions).

Among the three respondent groups, professionals reported the highest satisfaction with intellectual property protection in 2024, scoring 83.25 points—a 0.26-point increase from 2023. Rights holders scored 82.71 points, marking a 0.36-point rise compared to 2023. The general public's satisfaction with intellectual property protection scored 79.30 points, an increase of 0.65 points compared to 2023.

Among rights holders, patent right holders showed the highest satisfaction with IP protection in 2024, scoring 82.65 points—an increase of 0.49 points from 2023. Trademark right holders and copyright right holders scored 82.37 points and 82.11 points respectively, representing increases of 0.39 points and 0.31 points compared to 2023.

Among corporate rights holders, private enterprises reported the highest satisfaction with intellectual property protection, scoring 83.41 points—an increase of 0.38 points from 2023. State-owned enterprises, foreign-funded enterprises, and joint ventures scored 82.53, 81.38, and 81.02 respectively, representing increases of 1.12, 0.83, and 1.34 points compared to 2023. Small and medium-sized enterprises scored 82.74 points for satisfaction with intellectual property protection, an increase of 0.34 points compared to 2023; large enterprises scored 82.08 points for satisfaction with intellectual property protection, an increase of 0.79 points compared to 2023.
