On January 7, 2026, the Fengkai County Market Supervision Administration (hereinafter, "Fengkai AMR") published the Typical Cases of Crackdown on Infringement and Counterfeiting in 2025. Among them, case one involves a geographical indication issue, and case seven concerns products issues on e-commerce platform.

1. A Store in Fengkai County selling products with misleading names and descriptions – Geographical Indication issue
On October 16, 2024, the Fengkai AMR discovered that a store in Fengkai County had 12 packages of "Pu'er Tea" for sale. The product's origin was listed as Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, and the words "Pu'er Tea" were prominently displayed on both the front and back of the packaging. This labeling was misleading and likely to cause consumers to believe that the product originated from the Pu'er tea geographical indication area.
As a result, the Fengkai AMR took administrative enforcement action and seized the products. The investigation revealed that the store's conduct violated Article 20, Paragraph 1, Items 4 and 5 of the Guangdong Provincial Geographical Indications Regulations. The Fengkai AMR issued an order for rectification and imposed a fine.

2. An E-commerce Store in Fengkai County Selling Unregistered Cosmetics with Incomplete Chinese Labeling and Counterfeit Labels
On October 29, 2024, the enforcement officers from the Fengkai AMR, acting on a complaint, inspected an e-commerce store in Fengkai County. They discovered that the store was selling a shower gel on the Douyin platform that only had English labels and lacked Chinese labeling. The outer packaging indicated the product's origin as mainland China, but a search on the National Medical Products Administration's official website revealed that the label's registration number corresponded to an imported product. The e-commerce store was unable to provide relevant qualifications or information regarding the supplier and manufacturer of the shower gel
The e-commerce actions, including selling unregistered cosmetics with incomplete Chinese labeling and counterfeit labels, violated Article 28, Paragraph 1, Items 2, 8, and 9 of the Guangdong Provincial Cosmetics Safety Regulations. The Fengkai AMR issued a decision ordering rectification and imposing a fine.
